AMC the second biggest movie chain in the nation is said to go public. AMC is owned by China's Dalian Wanda Group and in his best interest for the company he plans to raise over $400million for the company. The movie chain has over 340 movie theaters in bussiness and with going public it can surley benefit. In December 2007 AMC originally  set a $750-million IPO. After, releasing info on this there was a withdrawal a year later. Then, later in 2012 china biggest entertainment group offered to buy them out for $ 2.6 billion. After , it made AMC the world's largest owned theater. Later ,on AMC's income doubled to about $41.4 Million dollars.

 What caught my eye in this article is how AMC has made more money and whether it's going to continue being run well because if not it may mean no more AMC theaters and places for movies to be shown.

How this impacted me as a film student or consumer? Well like everyone else I love going to the movie theaters watching movies on the big screen is way better than watching it at home. Therefore, knowing whether AMC is doing well in it's bussiness does affect me because without the AMC ,theaters would be way more packed then usual and less options of places to watch a film.

Well, AMC is doing pretty good and is successful but would it stay like this for long?

Bandito Brothers, one time hit or true talent?

Act of Valor came out February of the year 2012. The movie made a buzz and was the talk having over $70 million viewers. A sequel is being worked on to bring another gross action filled movie produced by the Bandito Brothers. The Bandito Brothers scored a good movie and have also been asked to produce more upcoming movies. The Badito Brothers consist of 8 members who independently finance their commercials, documentaries, etc and also produce.  About $12 to $30 millions was raised by them for Act of Valor to pay for the finished film. With their fantastic gift and dedication to what they do I feel that the sequel may also be a big hit.

What caught my eye mostly on this article was finding out the dedication the Badito Brothers have for producing and how they independently finance themselves.

As a film student/ student this article impacted me by helping me get ideas myself if I would like to become a producer in the future to learn from what they have done to make me become better. As a consumer the article does help someone decide whether watching the sequel would be worth it because not all sequels come out to be a big hit like the first film may have. Also, it would help inform me on the Bandito Brothers to notify me if watching one of their later films if they really do commit to their job and put the effort into making a movie worth watching.

Yet, with all this information would the sequel be good like it sounds it will be ? Are the Bandito Brothers a one time hit or do they have real talent ?

Well as we all have heard Elysium was released in theaters on Aug, 9th 2013 and was heard to be a great sci-fi movie like district 9. According to CNN Entertainment Matt Damon the main character in the film made Elysium "work". The main character Max was attached metal parts to the outside of his body. These parts allow him to be strong and have strengths that go beyond human strengths. The director Neill Blomkamp is also the director of the 2009 film District 9. District 9 was a low budget film that was surprisingly a big hit. The Film Elysium was another hit to show the true talent of Blomkamp. The part of Max in the film was brilliant and added a super hero figure to the movie with his special suite. Yet, Damon himself is what made the movie work overall. Damon has been successful in many other movies but not in this way and that is what made it more interesting to watch then his other films.


This article caught my eye because I have seen the film Elysium already and when I read it, it immediately caught my eye because I understood when they said Matt Damon and of course the director was the reason the film worked.



This article impacted me as a teen because if I haven't watched the film before and wanted to know if it was worth watching it is helpful to know that it is. This article is informative with information and a summary of the movie helping a consumer or a film student interested in watching the movie making the choice.
